In the first game for the Olentangy Berlin High School football team, no player made a bigger impression than Johnny Spinner.

The junior running back rolled through Briggs’ defense, rushing for 235 yards with touchdowns of 10, 5, 4, 7 and 4 yards on 29 carries as the Bears routed the visiting Bruins 53-22.

The performance earned Spinner our Player of the Week honor. Not only did he win the vote of the staff, but he captured the fan vote through our Twitter poll. The poll received 1,587 votes in 24 hours, with Spinner earning 47 percent to finish ahead of Thomas Worthington quarterback Charlie Rhoades, Pickerington Central quarterback Demeatric Crenshaw and Reynoldsburg wide receiver Mershawn Rice.
