The Delaware Christian School girls volleyball team fell short in its bid at winning the MOCAL championship.

The Eagles lost to host Shekinah Christian 23-25, 13-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-5 on Oct. 9 and were 12-9 overall and 7-2 in the MOCAL ahead of their regular-season finale Oct. 11 against Tree of Life. Shekinah Christian, which improved to 9-0 in the league, also beat the Eagles 25-19, 25-13, 20-25, 25-23 on Sept. 13.

Lyssi Snouffer recorded 28 digs and 26 kills to lead Delaware Christian in the Oct. 9 match. Allison Grover added nine kills and eight blocks, Grace Williams had 20 assists, Abbi Maurer had 11 assists, three aces and three blocks and Maggie Broadfoot had 25 digs and three blocks.

Delaware Christian is seeded fourth of 16 teams in the Division IV district tournament and will play host to Northside Christian in the first round Thursday, Oct. 18. The winner plays third-seeded Berne Union or 10th-seeded Madison Christian in a district semifinal Saturday, Oct. 20, at the home of the better seed.

The district final is Oct. 25 at Worthington Christian, with the opponent likely being second-seeded Shekinah Christian.

Boys soccer team set for postseason

The boys soccer team is seeded 20th of 23 teams in the Division III district tournament and has a first-round bye.

The Eagles will play at sixth-seeded Fairbanks or 14th-seeded Marion Pleasant in the second round Wednesday, Oct. 17. That winner advances to a district semifinal Oct. 23, where it likely will play third-seeded Johnstown or eighth-seeded Fisher Catholic. The district final is Oct. 27.

Delaware Christian fell to 2-10-1 overall and finished 0-4 in the MOCAL with a 4-0 loss at Tree of Life on Oct. 9. The Eagles concluded the regular season Oct. 11 against West Jefferson.

Delaware Christian defeated Ready 2-0 on Sept. 6 and beat Harvest Prep 3-2 on Sept. 15 as Cam Broadfoot scored two goals and Jared Gibson scored one.
