Olentangy Orange High School senior football player Zach Harrison has been selected to play in the 19th All-American Bowl.

The selection was announced Oct. 31 during a ceremony at Orange.

The All-American Bowl, which features the top 100 high school seniors in the country, will kick off at noon Jan. 5 in the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Harrison, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive end, is rated by several college recruiting services as the state’s top recruit in the 2019 class at any position.

Harrison missed the first three games this season with a leg injury. In seven games, he has 31.5 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, seven sacks and one pass break-up. On offense as a wide receiver, he has 19 catches for 354 yards and four touchdowns.

Orange is 7-3 and has qualified for the Division I, Region 2 playoffs. The Pioneers open the postseason Nov. 2 at Toledo Whitmer.

Last season, Harrison was named all-state, all-district and all-OCC-Buckeye Division, leading the Pioneers with 18.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks while having 34.5 total tackles. As a tight end, he had nine receptions for 173 yards and four touchdowns.
