The Delaware Christian School girls basketball team defeated host Tree of Life 61-48 on Jan. 8 for its fourth consecutive victory and sixth in seven games.

The Eagles were 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the MOCAL before playing at Granville Christian on Jan. 11.

Lyssi Snouffer again supplied a huge double-double with 32 points and 30 rebounds, as well as recording four steals, three assists and three blocked shots. Abbi Maurer added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists and Emma Rindfuss had seven points for the Eagles, who outrebounded the Trojans 57-29.

"Lyssi was sick and we wanted to play her limited minutes, but she insisted she was going to play hard because this was an important game for us," coach Jackie Boggs said. "I thought Abbi and Emma really stepped up, too, handling (Tree of Life's) pressure defense."

Snouffer surpassed the 1,000-point barrier for her career Jan. 5 during a 44-41 win over visiting Shekinah Christian in a battle of unbeaten MOCAL teams, totaling 26 points and 20 rebounds in the game. Katie Neuhart made two free throws to give the Eagles a 42-41 lead and Snouffer added two free throws to close the scoring.

"That was our biggest game so far this year and I didn't care how many points we scored as long as we came away with the win," Snouffer said. "I went into the game 18 points short of 1,000, but my teammates didn't know. We didn't want them to think about that. Just my coaches and my parents knew because the less drama in a big game, the better. But it was nice to get both (my 1,000th career point and the win) done together."

Maurer added eight points, six rebounds and three steals against Shekinah Christian.

Delaware Christian opened the 2019 portion of its schedule by beating Morral Ridgedale 56-48 on Jan. 3, as Snouffer had 23 points, Maurer scored 11 and Neuhart and Rindfuss added eight points apiece.
