Hilliard Bradley High School softball coach Kevin Moody earned his 600th career win April 1 as his team picked up its first victory of the season.
The host Jaguars defeated Thomas Worthington 11-1 in five innings in their OCC-Cardinal Division opener to improve to 1-1.
Moody, who is in his 34th season as a head coach, has a career record of 600-262.
“One of the coolest things is that we’re just getting started and we’re in the second game of the season and the kids were more excited about the win than I was,” Moody said. “I had forgotten all about (having 600 wins).
“They had Silly String, confetti and pop guns … It was great, and we’re really excited about it. I’m very happy that I got to share it with them.”
Moody is in his 10th season at Bradley. He previously spent 12 years at Hilliard (1986-97) and 12 seasons at Hilliard Darby (1998-2009).
Against Thomas, junior pitcher Macie LoParo struck out five in a no-hitter, while Annika Murray went 3-for-4 and scored three runs, Makenzie Hilling was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Amanda Nashalsky went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
