The New Albany High School boys tennis team is returning to the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Division I state tournament for the fourth consecutive year, with only one goal left to achieve.
The Eagles defeated visiting Dublin Jerome 3-0 in a district final May 14, dropping only five games in the matches that counted toward the outcome.
Robert Cash defeated Max Fickas 6-0, 6-1, Nathan Jose shut out Daniel Utkin 6-0, 6-0 and the doubles team of Alek Jacoby and Ryan Mudre beat Andrew Dvorkin and Tanish Pairu 6-3, 6-1.
The Eagles improved to 15-1 and will play in an OTCA state semifinal May 26 at Reynoldsburg. The first- and third-place matches are later that day.
New Albany was state runner-up each of the past two years and finished third in 2016.
Jerome fell to 17-2.
