The Dublin and Westerville high school club rowing teams both will be represented in the USRowing Youth Nationals, which will be held June 6-9 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.

At the Midwest Junior Championships held May 18 and 19 on Harsha Lake in Bethel, Dublin’s boys varsity 2 of seniors Craig Hammon and Rain Juhl finished first in 7 minutes, 13.493 seconds as the top three boats in each first varsity final automatically advanced to nationals.

Westerville’s girls varsity 2 of Genoa Christian senior Maddie Kirwin and New Albany junior Aenea Keren finished first (8:07.733) and its boys lightweight 4 that was stroked by New Albany junior Noah Tobin placed second (6:46.739).

Also placing for Dublin was its boys first varsity 4 (seventh, 7:14.468) and its boys lightweight 8 (sixth, 7:08.474).

Westerville reached the finals in eight other events at the Midwest meet.

Its boys lightweight 8 placed fourth (6:22.884), its girls lightweight 8 was fifth (7:37.726) and its boys first varsity 8 was seventh (6:19.67).

Also for Westerville, its boys third varsity 4 placed sixth (7:24.384), its boys second varsity 4 was fifth (7:03.634), its girls second varsity 8 was sixth (7:22.79), its boys first novice 8 placed fifth (6:54.378) and its girls first novice 4 finished seventh (8:18.396).

One of the area’s other club programs, Arch City, placed fourth (6:51.907) in the girls first varsity 8 to just miss qualifying for nationals automatically.

Also reaching finals for Arch City were its girls first varsity 4 (seventh, 7:39.169), its girls second varsity 4 (fourth, 7:40.954), its boys varsity 2 (sixth, 7:29.347), its girls second novice 4 (second, 8:09.992) and its girls first novice 8 (sixth, 7:30.742).
