Thomas Worthington sophomore Justin Braun won a gold medal in the AAU Junior Olympics track and field meet held July 27-Aug. 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Competing in the 400 meters in the boys 15-16 age group, Braun finished first in 47.22 seconds after placing seventh in the preliminaries in 49.09.

The runner-up was Khamari Terrell of Killeen, Texas. Terrell finished in 47.43.

In the Division I state meet June 1 at Ohio State, Braun became the first freshman to win the 400 since Westerville South’s Ryan Barber in 2007. Braun completed that race in 46.76, .19 of a second ahead of runner-up Zarik Brown of Huber Heights Wayne.
