The KIPP Columbus football team will hold its first home game Oct. 25 against Galion.

The school recently completed construction of Legacy Field, which is located at 2785 Agler Road, across from its campus.

“This is an important milestone for KIPP Columbus athletics and our entire school community,” executive director Hannah Powell said in a press release. “There’s nothing like Friday night lights on a brand new field for the very first time to inspire school spirit. … We are looking forward to our KIPPsters stepping onto the field on what will be a very special homecoming game and senior night.”

The 6,280-square foot complex will seat nearly 1,000 fans for football and soccer games as well as track and field meets and features an eight-lane track and a turf field.

The Jaguars play an independent schedule and are 1-6 entering their game against Norwood on Oct. 18. Their victory came against the Columbus Crusaders, 30-15 on Sept. 13.

KIPP Columbus is coached by Andrew Mensah and is in its first season as a member of the OHSAA, competing in Division VI, Region 24.
