Jack Foley made the most of his final game with the Ready football team against Grandview on Nov. 1 at Fortress Obetz.

The 5-foot-5, 160-pound senior running back rushed for 231 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries as the Silver Knights won 27-14 to finish 5-5.

Despite the victory, Ready fell short of the Division V, Region 19 playoffs.

“I have been dealing with injuries all season and I felt better coming into this game than I have all year,” Foley said. “Everything seemed to come together for a great team win. We deserved better than a 10-game season, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

The Bobcats dropped to 6-4 but still have a chance to reach the Division VI, Region 24 playoffs. They entered the game fifth in the region, with the top eight teams qualifying for the postseason.

“We fought hard, but we have to be more consistent,” Grandview coach Jason Peters said. “When we have opportunities, we have to make plays. We have to be more consistent if we want to win.”

Grandview was playing without a pair of starters in its backfield. Senior quarterback Kyle Casey missed his third consecutive game with an injury to his throwing elbow (right), and senior running back Darreion Davis and his 955 yards rushing on the season sat out with an ankle injury.

Senior Charlie James played quarterback for the Bobcats, rushing for 103 yards on 21 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown. He was 10-for-15 passing for 91 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown to Luke Lachey, who had six catches for 58 yards.

Ready also got a 1-yard touchdown run from fullback Jejuan McGowan and A.J. Craddock made field goals of 34 and 25 yards.
