Quarterback Ryan Miller’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Adam Booth in the fifth overtime lifted the Dublin Jerome football team to a dramatic 38-31 win over visiting Springboro in a Division I, Region 2 first-round game Nov. 8.

The fourth-seeded Celtics improved to 9-2 and will play top-seeded Springfield (10-1) in a regional semifinal Nov. 15 at a neutral site.

“This is awesome,” Jerome coach Bob Gecewich said. “Our kids just fight their (butts) off. I absolutely love it. Our kids play so hard. I don’t think they’re ever out of a game and they absolutely fought for everything they got tonight and deserved everything that they got.”

After Miller and Booth teamed up to give Jerome the lead, the Celtics turned to their defense to preserve the win over fifth-seeded Springboro, which finished 9-2.

Jerome’s Ryan Richards forced a fumble by quarterback Landon Palmer, which was recovered Dominic Nardone to seal the victory.

Booth rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries and added four receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown for the Celtics.

Nate Kovach led Jerome defensively with 10 tackles.

Timmy Keseday ran for 90 yards and Moise Armbruster added 80 yards on the ground to lead Springboro, which held a 307-165 advantage in total yards.
