Senior Edyn Battle broke the Gahanna Lincoln girls basketball program’s record for career points during a 66-45 victory over Olentangy Liberty on Jan. 7.

A four-year starter, Battle surpassed 1,000 career points during an 81-64 loss Nov. 24 to Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame. She’s averaging 16.8 points this winter and has scored 1,197 points for her career for the Lions, who take a record of 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the OCC-Ohio Division into their game Jan. 10 against Pickerington Central.

Battle, who averaged 14.5 points and was third-team all-district and first-team all-league last season, has committed to Miami University.

She passed 1999 graduate Tanya Harris, an assistant with the program whose maiden name was McClure, to move into first place on Gahanna’s all-time scoring list.
