Luke Lachey scored 30 points in the Grandview Heights boys basketball team’s 54-33 victory over Bexley on Jan. 7, surpassing 1,000 for his career.
Lachey is the fourth Bobcats player to reach the milestone in coach Ray Corbett’s 33 seasons. The other three are 1998 graduate Phil Lovegrove, 2000 graduate Todd Lovegrove and fellow senior Brian Collier.
Lachey also had 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots as the Bobcats improved to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the MSL-Ohio Division.
“Luke needed 19 (points) going into the game, and I was so caught up into the game that we didn’t stop and recognize that he passed it,” Corbett said. “He just had a great night for us, and it says a lot that we have two 1,000-point scorers on the same team.”
Lachey, who will play football at Iowa, enters a league game Jan. 11 against Wellington with 1,011 points.
