With an increase in depth and having several returnees, Hilliard Davidson bowling coach Adrian Jasinski expected his boys team to have a strong season.

Instead, the Wildcats have struggled, in part because of inconsistent play, according to Jasinski.

After starting 0-5, Davidson earned its first win Jan. 17 by defeating Thomas Worthington 2,037-1,788 at Capri Lanes, a performance Jasinski hopes will provide a boost for the Wildcats as they head into the latter stages of the regular season and the postseason, which begins Feb. 21 with the Division I sectional tournament at HP Lanes.

Davidson was 1-5 overall and in the COHSBC-B Division before a match against Pickerington Central on Jan. 21.

"It's been frustrating," Jasinski said. "I try to make the right move and sometimes you make a move and it works out (the) opposite. I'd like to get at least three or four more wins."

A pair of first-year bowlers led the Wildcats against Thomas. Junior Kaden Miller rolled a 378 two-game series, followed by senior Nick Sands (352), junior Ben Curry (320) and senior Cameron Curry (311).

"We played pretty well," Miller said. "We also shot solid scores and we've definitely improved."

Through five matches, Dominic Williams led the Wildcats with a 180.2 average, followed by Cameron Curry (161.4), freshman Josh Crawford (164.6), Miller (159), Ben Curry (154.9), junior Luke Hand (146.8) and Sands (142.2).

The girls team also received balanced scoring in a 1,773-1,740 win over Thomas on Jan. 17.

Senior Laurel King led the Wildcats with a 343 series, followed by senior Reilly Wolfinger (327), senior Lauren Domer (310), junior CiCi Keidel (290) and senior Kaycee Huffman (235).

Davidson was 3-3 overall and in the COHSBC-B before a match against Central on Jan. 21.

"The girls are doing really good," Jasinski said. "They've shot an 1,867 (Jan. 6 against Darby) this season. If they can do that at sectional (Feb. 22 at HP Lanes), they can go to district (Feb. 29 at HP Lanes)."

Through five matches, Wolfinger led Davidson with a 158.6 average, followed by King (143.2), Keidel (137.5) and freshman Maggie Tighe (135).

Keidel, a first-year bowler, has committed to play softball at Ohio University.

"It's really fun," Keidel said of bowling. "The team is really supportive. We bowled really good (Jan. 17). My goal is to keep bumping up my average and picking up splits. We want to keep getting wins."

Boys basketball team hoped to end skid

The boys basketball team hoped to snap a four-game losing streak when it played Olentangy Liberty on Jan. 21.

The Wildcats were 3-10 overall before facing the Patriots and are 1-5 in the OCC-Central.

Davidson lost to host Dublin Coffman 68-49 in a league contest Jan. 17. Jonathan Weir led the Wildcats with 14 points.

Girls basketball team falls to Shamrocks

Brianna O'Connor and Sally Sell each had nine points against Coffman and O'Connor scored nine against Darby.
