Citing family and work commitments, Morgan Langworthy has stepped down after five seasons as coach of the Dublin Scioto hockey team.

Langworthy compiled a 75-81-9 record with the Irish.

This season, Scioto finished 12-20 overall and went 2-14 (4 points) in the Capital Hockey Conference-Blue Division to finish fourth of five teams, behind champion Columbus Academy (16, 7-7-1-1).

The 22nd-seeded Irish opened the district tournament Feb. 21 with an 8-7 win over 23rd-seeded Troy in the first round before losing to top-seeded Upper Arlington 16-0 in the second round Feb. 22.

“This was absolutely my favorite year despite the record and the ups and downs,” Langworthy said. “I took a new position at work over the summer and my younger ones are going to start playing winter sports. I’m not really looking to coach another high school, maybe five or six years down the road. It’s been nothing but a positive experience.”
