The Prowler Hockey Association club team will be losing two of its top three scorers and one of its primary goaltenders to graduation after finishing 9-26-5 overall and placing fifth in the Ohio Scholastic Hockey League.

The Prowlers' season came to an end Feb. 21 with a 4-2 loss to fourth-seeded Northeast in the first round of the Blue Jackets Cup, the OSHL's tournament, at Chiller Dublin.

PHA went 6-8-4 (16 points) in the seven-team league, finishing behind Newark (32, 15-1-2), Hilliard (26, 12-4-2), Dayton (22, 9-5-4) and Northeast (18, 8-8-2).

Senior forward Tanner Sabau (Pickerington North) led the Prowlers in goals (26) and points (43) and finished with 17 assists. Junior forward Brandon Hux (Pickerington Central) added 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points and senior forward Garrett Bowers (Reynoldsburg) had 10 goals and a team-high 21 assists for 31 points.

In goal, junior Drew Donahue (Grove City) made 354 saves on 448 shots (.790 save percentage) and senior Cameron Bell (Reynoldsburg) stopped 143 of 200 shots (.715 save percentage).

PHA fell three spots short of qualifying for the state tournament, also known as the Buckeye Cup.

The top 12 teams in the state according to www.myhockeyrankings.com advanced to the Buckeye Cup, which runs from Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8, at OBM Arena in Strongsville. The Prowlers were ranked 15th last week.

Dayton, Hilliard, Newark, Northeast and Westerville will represent the OSHL in the state tournament.

Other players eligible to return for the Prowlers include junior Sam Mills (defenseman, Central) and sophomores Jonathan Frush (forward, Grove City Christian), Ben Hayes (forward, Central), Brandon Ley (forward, Central), Gianni Palombaro (defenseman, Bloom-Carroll) and Brady Sharp (defenseman, Amanda-Clearcreek).
