Galla Park steakhouse to open in the Short North
A Cincinnati steakhouse says it is opening a second location in Columbus soon.
After a year of delays, Galla Park Restaurant and Lounge will open at 900 N. High St. in the Short North.
Peerless Management Group, which owns Galla Park, felt the concept was successful enough in southwestern Ohio to have potential in Columbus, Director of Operations Adam Soloman said.
"(Peerless) takes a concept and works on the concept in a certain city," he said. "We see if there are things we want to change about it, and if there are things that are good, or things that will work, and we move it to the next city."
The Cincinnati location opened in 2018 and sits in the city's entertainment district. It's adjacent to Great American Ballpark — home of the Cincinnati Reds — and is just blocks away from Paul Brown Stadium — home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Peerless picked the Short North because it serves as Columbus' entertainment district, Soloman said.
The company also operates Fireproof Restaurant and Lounge at 1026 N. High St. in the Short North.
The opening date for the Columbus location will be announced soon, a news release said. In the meantime, Galla Park is hiring for the Short North restaurant.
Galla Park will regularly host DJs. The idea is to give revelers a single place to spend a night out, Soloman said. With a high-end cocktail menu, customers can enjoy a few mixed drinks after dinner, and then stick around for a nightclub experience.
"This is a place that progresses you through your evening," he said. "So it's not necessarily a place that you ever have to leave."
Galla Park's current menu is on the expensive side, with entrees that cost more than $30 and appetizers that cost around $10.
However, the restaurant plans to unveil a new menu before the Columbus location opens, Soloman said.
While he couldn't release specifics, Soloman said the restaurant's new menu "will be a little bit on the higher end."
"It will be very steakhouse-focused," he said.
Galla Park in Columbus will also serve high end cocktails and offer an extensive menu of boutique wines, he said.
But food is the focus.
"We're a restaurant, through and through," Soloman said.
