Hilliard: Steel plates worth $54,000 stolen from Scioto Darby Road

Thirty steel plates used during road construction and worth $54,000 were reported stolen June 19 to the Hilliard Division of Police.

The theft occurred between 7 a.m. June 1 and 11 p.m. June 18 on the 5000 block of Scioto Darby Road, according to the police report.

The plates are the property of a pipeline company.

The plates are worth $1,800 each, according to police.

In other recent Hilliard police incident reports:

* A woman told police June 19 that $1,000 was stolen between 9 a.m. June 9 and 4:25 p.m. June 11 on the 4800 block of Duke Philip Drive.

* Two bicycles were reported stolen between 5:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. June 19 on the 5200 block of Jacob Way. Property loss was reported at $580.

* A license plate was reported stolen between 10 p.m. June 20 and 1:40 p.m. June 21 from a vehicle parked on the 4000 block of Leap Road.

* A bicycle worth $300 was reported stolen between 8:55 and 9:15 p.m. June 21 at Darby Glen Boulevard and Patcon Way.

* A 21-year-old man was arrested for felony possession of drugs at 11:50 p.m. June 18 at Whispering Oak Boulevard and Frazell Road.

* A 24-year-old man was arrested for drug abuse and possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, at 3:50 p.m. June 18 at Scioto Farms Drive and Scioto Darby Road.

* A 22-year-old man was arrested for drug abuse and possession of a controlled substance at 4:10 p.m. June 18 on the 4800 block of Cemetery Road.

* A 21-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, at 4:30 p.m. June 18 on the 3600 block of Fishinger Boulevard.

* A 21-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct at 9:10 p.m. June 18 on the 5300 block of Center Street.

* A 31-year-old New Albany man was arrested for felony trafficking in drugs, OVI, having a weapon under disability and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle June 19 at Scioto Darby and Cosgray roads.

At 4:30 a.m. June 19, officers responded to a call of a vehicle stopped in the roadway near Darby Town Center. They found the driver unconscious behind the steering wheel and the engine running.

When officers awakened him, he reached for a firearm, the report said.

A search of the vehicle turned up "a large amount of cash and suspected narcotics," said police spokeswoman Andrea Litchfield.

The man was transported to the Franklin County jail.

Police are waiting for the lab results from the substance found in the vehicle.

* Officers arrested a 25-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, all for disorderly conduct, at 11:55 p.m. June 20 on the 4000 block of Main Street.

* A 30-year-old woman was arrested for felony possession of drugs at 2:15 a.m. June 20 on the 4000 block of Parkway Lane.
