Northland: Man shot while driving through intersection

A 23-year-old Columbus man was in stable condition after reportedly being shot while driving through the intersection of Sharon Woods Boulevard and Alpine Drive at 11 p.m. Aug. 5.

According to reports, the man said he was driving home from a nearby gas station when he heard gunshots and realized he had been struck.

He called police and told them he hadn't seen anyone fire the shots but was hit in the chest and hand.

A Columbus Division of Fire medic responded and transported him to a hospital.

Police reportedly recovered shell casings in the intersection, but had no suspects.

* Two women living at separate residences on the 1700 block of Durbridge Road reported someone fired shots into their homes at 12:58 a.m. Aug. 5. According to reports, windows at both houses were shot, causing $200 in damage, and one woman's front door was shot, causing $50 in damage. Additionally, that woman's vehicle was shot multiple times, causing $10,000 in damage.

* A catalytic converter and oxygen sensor valued together at $750 was stolen from a woman's vehicle while parked on the 5900 block of Sharon Woods Boulevard between July 15 and Aug. 6.

* A woman reported she pulled into her covered carport on the 5900 block of Sharon Woods Boulevard at 8:13 p.m. Aug. 7 when an unknown male approached her, brandished a handgun and demanded she give him her mobile telephone and purse. The woman told police she handed the man her keys, a phone valued at $300 and $40 in cash, and the man fled the scene on foot.

* A woman on the 2200 block of Bayfield Drive reported she pulled up to her residence at 10:09 p.m. Aug. 5 and an unknown male, no description provided, asked for directions. After giving him directions, the man reportedly brandished a handgun and asked for her purse. The woman said she quickly entered her house and called police without handing over any of her property.

* A woman on the 5300 block of Karl Road reported someone fired shots into her residence at 3:05 a.m. Aug. 5, causing a total of $1,000 in damage to the siding, drywall and a refrigerator. Police found shell casings in a neighbor's backyard but had no suspects.

* A computer tablet valued at $150 and a laptop computer valued at $350 reportedly were stolen from a woman's vehicle on the 900 block of Covington Road between 1 and 6:24 a.m. Aug. 6.

* A Mansfield woman reported she agreed to meet a man on the 1200 block of East Dublin-Granville Road at 3 p.m. Aug. 9 to sell a handgun. However, the woman said upon meeting the man, he reached into her vehicle, took the gun valued at $600 and ran away.

* Two women reported they were in a vehicle on the 1500 block of Red Robin Road at 2 a.m. Aug. 8 and, upon pulling into a parking space, were robbed by an unknown man with a handgun. The man reportedly made off with a cellphone, no value provided, and $12 in cash.

* A Columbus man reported he was parked in his vehicle on the 1700 block of Morse Road at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 11, when a man approached him, pointed a handgun at him and robbed him of his cellphone valued at $1,000.

* A Columbus woman reported she pulled into her driveway on the 1700 block of Shanley Drive at 3:33 a.m. Aug. 6, when a man knocked on her vehicle's window and demanded money. The man reportedly then followed the woman into her residence before stealing her phone valued at $1,500, her purse valued at $30, her driver's license and her Social Security card.

* A man on the 1900 block of Shanley Drive reported that after a dispute with a woman he knows, two tires on his vehicle were slashed between 11 p.m. Aug. 5 and 10:08 a.m. Aug. 6, causing $150 in damage. Additionally, the man said mustard, ketchup and eggs had been thrown on the exterior of the vehicle, causing $70 in damage.

* A Kingston man reported he agreed to meet a man on the 4400 block of Cleveland Avenue at 8 p.m. Aug. 7 for the potential sale of a handgun valued at $650. However, the man said when the two met, he handed the gun to the other man to inspect, and the other man fled.
