Gahanna: Man displays gun, takes cigarettes in robbery

An employee at Speedway West, 376 Agler Road, was allegedly robbed at gunpoint, according to a report received at 3:39 a.m. Sept. 7.

A man, described as Black, dressed in a white T-shirt, camouflage hat and pants, went behind the store's counter with a gun and told the employee to give him money, according to reports. The reporting party said the man knew where the cigarettes were and ran out the door with a trash bag of cigarette cartons and all the money from the register, according to the caller.

In other Gahanna police incident reports:

* Power tools were stolen and some property was destroyed at a construction site on Olde Ridenour Road, according to a report received at 7:14 a.m. Sept. 8.

* A turtle had been struck on Taylor Road and Rice Avenue, according to a report received at 12:22 p.m. Sept. 8. It wasn't dead, reports said.

* A vehicle on Humboldt Drive West was rummaged through overnight and a library and grocery-store card were taken, according to a report received at 5:07 p.m. Sept. 2.

* A Milk Street resident said several families with small children nearby, including her son, found their bicycles were moved overnight, according to a report received at 11:24 a.m. Sept. 2. The bicycles were moved from the outside locations by their apartments and put in driveways, reports said.

There was no damage to the bicycles and they were returned to their proper owners, according to reports.

* Someone took a garage-door opener from a vehicle on Humboldt Drive East and entered the garage, according to a report received at 8:01 a.m. Sept. 2.

Another resident on the same street reported at 10:05 a.m. Sept. 2 the family came home to find their garage door up. The house was locked, and no items were missing from the garage, reports said.

* A vehicle was reported stolen on Humboldt Drive West, according to a report received at 7:02 a.m. Sept. 2. A wallet was inside the vehicle, and someone was using the resident's credit cards, reports said

The owner said she is current on car payments, according to reports.

* A vehicle was rummaged through overnight on Lyncroft Drive, according to a report received at 7:08 a.m. Sept. 2. Nothing was stolen, reports said.
