Police beat: Resident's 'boss' steals $3,000

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office said a resident of the 9000 block of Courtside Lane in Powell lost $3,000 in an email scam reported Aug. 26.

An imposter reportedly posed as the resident's boss and asked her to purchase gift cards as surprise gifts for employees.

In other recent county sheriff's reports:

* A handyman was accused of stealing money and jewelry, together worth $7,425, from a residence on the 7900 block of Glenmore Drive in Powell, where he was hired to complete home improvements.

The theft was reported at 1:13 p.m. Aug. 30.

* A van and trailer with a combined value of $17,000 were stolen from a driveway on the 2300 block of Alison's Street in Lewis Center in a theft reported at 7:53 a.m. Aug. 26.

* While attempting to locate individuals who were breaking into vehicles on the 4300 block of Emerald Lakes Boulevard in Powell, deputies questioned several possible adult suspects, according to reports. The break-ins were reported at 2:09 a.m. Aug. 25.

* Wooden pallets valued at $20 were stolen from the 3500 block of Home Road in a theft reported at 9:56 a.m. Aug. 20.

* Four juveniles from Columbus, ranging in age from 13 to 16, were spotted at 3 a.m. Aug. 19 in a parking lot on the 1100 block of Bayridge Drive in Lewis Center, according to reports.

Multiple vehicles have been broken into recently in the lot, reports said.

After they were questioned, the juveniles were released into the custody of relatives or guardians, according to reports.

In recent Powell police reports:

* A recycling bin valued at $95 was stolen from the first block of Traditions Way in a theft reported at 9:12 a.m. Aug. 28.

* Coins were stolen from two vehicles parked on the 200 block of Valley Run Place in thefts reported at 4:01 p.m. Aug. 24.
