Eastland Mall, shown in an aerial view, opened Feb. 14, 1968, and was the first enclosed mall in Columbus. The Richard E. Jacobs Group was the developer of Eastland and Columbus’ other two directional malls, Northland in 1964 as an open-air shopping center and Westland in 1969. Eastland’s original anchor stores included JCPenney, Sears and Lazarus.
