A floating riverfront amphitheater was dedicated May 24, 1974, during the 13th annual Greater Columbus Arts Festival. The amphitheater was on the west bank of the Scioto River south of Discovery Bridge in what now is Genoa Park. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra performed a dedication concert later that evening. This amphitheater existed until a more permanent version was built to accompany the new COSI building, which opened Nov. 6, 1999.
