A crowd gathered around the Scioto Mile Fountain when it was turned on for the public for the first time. The opening show was held at 6 p.m. July 7, 2011. The 15,000-square-foot fountain contains more than 1,000 ground-level spray nozzles and five halo structures, with an additional 1,000 nozzles that shoot water 70 feet into the air. The fountain has been closed temporarily because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
