The Columbus Ford Dealers 500 was a race through downtown Columbus. Organized by the Columbus Ford Dealer Association and Jim Trueman, president of Red Roof Inns and TrueSports, the first race was Oct. 4-6, 1985, and was 136 laps on the 2.3-mile course, for a total 312.8 miles. The event, which never broke even financially, lasted four years, with the final race in 1988.
